SERVICE AND OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS   FOR THE JAC PAC

WITH  A TRUE U.V.  MONITOR SYSTEM

The JAC PAC MONITORED SYSTEMS are equipped with a true U.V. Monitor which senses

the strength and intensity of the germicidal JAC PAC lamp.  When the JAC PAC is turned on

and is operating properly, a green L.E.D. will light up and will stay on as long as the unit is performing

as it should. When the JAC PAC is turned on and is operating and the green  L.E.D. is NOT on, but

the amber L.E.D. comes on, this means that the JAC PAC requires servicing.

See NOTE: 1

SERVICE PROCEDURE

bullet

Unplug the JAC PAC and shut off the water flow. If it is possible, remove the JAC PAC from  the system and place

it on a clean flat surface such as a table.

bullet

Remove the plastic end cap from the JAC PAC using a No. 2 Robertson screw driver.

bullet

Pull the lamp out by grasping the brown wire and gently remove the lamp connector from the lamp.

bullet

Grasp the grey "O" ring retainer nut and remove by turning it counter-clock wise.

bullet

Slide the lamp out of the Quartz sleeve and set it aside being careful not to touch the glass with your bare hands.

bullet

Slide the Quartz sleeve out of the JAC PAC chamber.

bullet

Clean the Quartz sleeve using an Acidic cleaning solution such as CR 5 or a dish detergent. Make sure the Quartz is

thoroughly cleaned and then place it back into the chamber.

bullet

Replace the Lamp and reconnect. NOTE: The Lamp should be replaced every 7200 hours

 LAMP MAINTENANCE

The lamps should be replaced every 7,200 hours or sooner should the transmissity drop below the required 60%.

This is done by removing the four pin lamp connector and gently sliding the lamps out of the quartz

sleeves.

Note! Do not touch the lamps with bare hands as this will cause " hot spots " on the

glass and could cause premature burnout.

Please note: The JAC PAC series of lamps are custom manufactured to Clean Tech's rigid

specifications. They are a medium pressure high intensity lamp and any attempt to substitute

them with another type will cause damage to the rest of the equipment. All other maintenance procedures

should be performed by a qualified technician, if there  is not one available in your area, the unit should

be sent back to the factory.

OPERATIONAL PROCEDURES WITH OPTIONAL ALARM

After the JAC PAC has been properly installed, and water is running through it, it is now safe to

turn it on. A short chirp like sound will be detected and the L.E.D. light will go to green. This means

that the JAC PAC is operating at optimum efficiency. If the YELLOW or RED L.E.D. comes on, this

means that the unit is in fail mode. This is usually caused by dirty water or a mineral build up on the Quartz sleeve.

If this happens, the water should be checked for turbidity or the Quartz sleeves should be changed or cleaned as

previously described.

WARRANTY

This product is warranted for a period of six months on electronics and one year on non-electronics,

provided it has been installed professionally by a factory trained technician and is in keeping with good

trade practices. All units are pressure tested and are given a dielectric high voltage test to insure that

all products that leave the factory are fully operational prior to installation.

PLEASE NOTE: Do not turn the JAC PAC on or off more than is necessary as doing

so diminishes the life of the lamps by up to 5 % each time they are turned on.

TESTING AND MAINTAINING THE JAC PAC

bullet

Plug the JAC PAC in and turn it on. The AMBER L.E.D. should come on for a second and then go off and the

             GREEN  L.E.D. should come on.

bullet

If the Lamp is at par, and the green L.E.D. comes on, then it is safe to reassemble the JAC PAC.

bullet

The "O" ring should be replaced at this time.

bullet

If the Amber L.E.D. stays on, then a new lamp is required.

bullet

After the service is completed and the Amber L.E.D. is still on, then the unit should be  serviced by

             factory authorized service representative.

PLEASE NOTE:

IF THE GREEN L.E.D. IS ON, THEN THE UNIT IS OPERATING PROPERLY. IF THE AMBER L.E.D. IS ON, THEN THE UNIT REQUIRES SERVICE

If the quartz sleeve is cleaned approximately every 4 to 6 months, and the lamp is replaced every

7200 hours, the JAC PAC will provide years of optimum service.

The JAC PAC Sensor is preset at the factory to trigger the AMBER L.E.D. to turn on when the U.V.

strength drops below 60% efficiency.

NOTE: DO NOT ALTER THE FACTORY SETTINGS

NOTE 1: ALL OF THE MONITORED JAC PAC SYSTEMS ARE NOW EQUIPPED WITH AN

AUDIO ALARM AS WELL AS THE VISUAL GREEN AND AMBER L.E.D.'S. WHEN THE AMBER

L.E.D. IS TRIGGERED, A LOUD SQUEALER SOUNDS.  THE ONLY WAY IT CAN BE SHUT OFF

IS TO WAIT FOR THE WATER TO "CLEAR," OR TO SERVICE THE JAC PAC.
